Town planning

The objective of the Land Use and Building Act is ‘to ensure that the use of land and water areas and building activities on them create preconditions for a favourable living environment and promote ecologically, economically, socially and culturally sustainable development’. To organise and steer land use in municipalities, local master plans and local detailed plans are drawn up.

The purpose of town planning is to regulate the use of land and construction activities within the town areas, in other words, to draw up a plan for the design and orderly development of the urban environment, including the siting of residential and commercial properties, open and green spaces as well as transport facilities.

The Town of Paimio Planning Unit is responsible for preparing and drawing up local master and detailed plans. For up-to-date information on planning projects, you are encouraged to familiarise yourself with any pending plans or with the planning review published annually by the planning unit and made available in paper or digital format by request.
